What a great start to our new year we have had thus far. Our crew has been learning about having a Growth Mindset, trying to do the kindest things in the kindest ways and building our community of readers, writers, mathematicians, artists, and scientists.
Our kick-off hike to launch our fall expedition, Saving Our Species, was a great success. We were able to have many discussions about our observations and
experiences upon returning to the classroom.
We are learning about Utah’s wetlands, forests and desert environments and building our knowledge about how these biomes sustain and support life.
During Readers’ Workshop we are learning how to become readers for life. Our current class read aloud is titled,
The Wonderling, please ask you child to share about the book and be ready for an earful.
I have introduced Writers’ Workshop and we have been writing mini messages to our crew mates as well as a friendly letter to the author of The Wonderling.
Lexia is in full swing and each Monday we have Lexia time during computers. Last week I sent home a form with the student login information. Please set aside time for Lexia so that the minutes can be met for each week that have not been met during computer time.
Thank you for getting your child to school on time and for supporting our learning by reading and talking to your child about their learning each day. Remember, if they say nothing was learned, have them dig a little deeper.
